Career
1938 –
Born in Monflanquin between the dazzling Lot and Garonne rivers, spent
a childhood with a pencil in hand, head in the clouds and feet on
the ground.
Brief shock, khaki uniforms underlining the stupidity of man.
1952 –
Certificat d’Etudes Primaires [equivalent of GCSE] then, of
course, came 100 different enriching experiences.
1955 –
Serious accident, an education in sufferance, bounced back, reading and
art.
1957 –
1960 Learnt to draw building plans, discovered architecture.
1960 –
1961 Stayed in the Haute Auvergne region, participated in public
building projects.
1961 –
First trip to Paris, learned about the town, contemporary art, an
intense risky life of festivals, with a full heart and
empty pockets.
1962 – Returned to mountain scenery, painting and fresh air.
1963 –
1966 Back to the Lot et Garonne, worked in an architecture agency in
Villeneuve sur Lot, small and medium projects, made slow progress
in the art of painting and pointillism.
1967 –
1968 Second trip to Paris, collaborated on large scale architectural
projects, met significant people in the Art business.
1968 –
1972 Left Paris before the riots [May 1968] and went to the east
Pyrenees, to Cerdagne back to a reduced timetable, learnt about
mountain architecture.

1972 –
1974 Third trip to Paris, worked on many African
projects, travelled to Canada.
Discovered another continent of immense proportions.
1974 –
1985 Back to my home country, ran an architectural
agency in Villeneuve sur Lot.
Began a three year course at the Toulouse School of Architecture, received my degree [DPLG] at the end of 1981.
Travelled widely throughout Spain and Italy. Soaked up the Art of these places, of their past and of more contemporary nature.
1986 –
1987 Period of creative unemployment – moved around a lot.
1988 –
1994 Self-employed architect, participates in a series of competitions
in the South-West of France, began to collaborate with the
ALBI agency.
Flitted between architecture and painting.
From November 1990, travelled widely through the former Soviet Republic, mostly for business.
Discovered Moscow after the de-block and bathed in the immense space,
the plains, snow, tundra to the South, tied up with the people and
memories.
Met consequential people there too, learned about the trends in Russian art.
1993 –
1996 Returned to job of paid architect given age and also a simple
refusal to tow the line of all sorts of sponsors.
Since 01/01/1997 Retired status.
